Interview:

1. What got you started in your journey to become an artist? Do you remember the initial spark of inspiration? The spark that ignited my artistic journey was an innate fascination with the world's vividness and its myriad of emotions, colors, and forms. As a child, I found solace in sketching, each stroke bringing the magic of my imagination to life. It was the beauty in everyday moments, the play of light on a leaf, or the fleeting expressions on people's faces that whispered stories waiting to be captured on canvas. Art became my sanctuary, a realm where I could translate feelings, experiences, and dreams into tangible expressions. That initial fascination morphed into a lifelong commitment, propelling me into the enchanting realm of artistry.

2. What are some of the greatest or most persistent hurdles you have faced as an artist so far? As an artist, hurdles have been part of my creative journey, shaping and refining my path. One of the most persistent challenges I've encountered is the pursuit of originality while navigating trends and market demands. Balancing artistic authenticity with commercial viability is a delicate tightrope walk, often nudging me to find my unique voice amidst the cacophony of influences. Additionally, there's the perennial struggle of self-doubt, the nagging uncertainty that questions the worthiness of my creations. Overcoming these hurdles involves continuous introspection, resilience, and a dedication to staying true to my artistic vision while embracing growth and adaptation.

3. What is your chosen medium to work in and why do you choose this over all the other potential mediums? My preferred mediums are oil and acrylics. Both offer unique characteristics that resonate deeply with my artistic vision. Oil paints captivate me with their rich, nuanced colors and their slow-drying nature, allowing ample time for blending and intricate detailing. On the other hand, acrylics allure me with their versatility, quick drying time, and ability to adapt to various techniques and textures. The combination of these mediums empowers me to experiment, lending flexibility to my creative process. Each medium holds its allure, offering a spectrum of possibilities that complement and enhance my artistic expression, enabling me to bring my visions to life in vibrant and multifaceted ways.

4. Why do you choose to paint, draw or represent the subject matter that you do, in your artwork? Love is the nucleus of my artistic journey, a profound force that fuels and permeates every brushstroke and creation. It's the raw emotion, the fervent passion, and the empathy that intertwine with my artistry, birthing expressions that transcend mere visuals. Love, in its myriad forms, be it love for humanity, nature, or life's experiences, serves as my muse, infusing depth and authenticity into my creations. It's the unspoken stories, the untold narratives, and the emotions encapsulated within every piece that bear the essence of this driving force, offering a heartfelt connection between my art and its beholders.

5. In the past 2 to 3 years, in what ways have you seen your artwork improving? Over the past few years, I've witnessed a notable evolution and refinement in my artwork across several dimensions. Primarily, my technical proficiency has seen significant growth, reflecting in the precision of my brushwork, the subtlety of color gradations, and the overall composition of my pieces. Moreover, I've delved deeper into experimenting with various techniques, exploring new styles, and embracing diverse mediums, which has expanded the scope of my artistic expressions. Alongside technical advancement, my art has also undergone a transformation in its emotional depth and storytelling capacity, resonating more profoundly with viewers and offering richer narratives that evoke a stronger emotional connection. This journey of growth and improvement has been an inspiring testament to my dedication to continual learning and exploration within my craft.

6. Who is you biggest artistic inspiration? who is the artist you hope to emulate, meet or replicate in terms of their art or career? Picasso undoubtedly stands as an immense artistic inspiration for me, his innovative spirit and groundbreaking contributions to the world of art continue to awe and motivate my own creative journey. While I hold Picasso's work in the highest regard, my aspiration isn't to emulate or replicate any singular artist or their career. Instead, I strive to forge my unique path, drawing inspiration from various artistic luminaries while crafting a style and artistic narrative that bears the stamp of my individuality. Picasso's fearlessness in experimentation, his audacity to challenge conventions, and his relentless pursuit of innovation serve as guiding lights, propelling me forward in my quest to carve a distinct identity within the artistic realm.

7. What are you working towards as an artist? Are you looking for more recognition in the form of sales or gallery representation? As an artist, my primary aim is to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and bring joy to those who engage with and connect deeply with my art. While recognition in the form of sales and gallery representation is undoubtedly a part of the journey, my ultimate goal transcends mere commercial success. I am driven by the desire to foster meaningful connections through my art, creating pieces that resonate profoundly with individuals, sparking conversations, and leaving a lasting impact on the hearts and minds of viewers. Striking a balance between artistic expression and wider recognition remains a constant pursuit, but my paramount focus remains on eliciting genuine emotions and offering a transformative experience through my creations.

8. Do you do commissions or offer bespoke work for clients such as murals? if so or not, why? Yes, I do offer commissions and bespoke artwork for clients. I believe in the power of collaboration and the opportunity it presents to tailor art to specific visions and desires. Working on commissions allows me to engage directly with clients, understanding their unique preferences, stories, and emotions they wish to capture in a personalized piece. It's an enriching experience that not only challenges my creativity but also allows me to create art that holds profound significance and resonates deeply with the individual commissioning the piece.

9. If you had advice for novice artists in 2023 or just other artists in general, what would that be? For novice artists stepping into the creative realm in 2024 or any artist on their journey, my advice would be to embrace authenticity and perseverance. Embrace your unique voice and individuality—your art is a reflection of your experiences, emotions, and perspective. Don't be afraid to experiment, make mistakes, and learn from them. Stay dedicated to your craft, practice consistently, and seek inspiration from a diverse array of sources. Stay open to critique and feedback, as they often provide invaluable insights for growth. Most importantly, trust in your creative journey, be patient with yourself, and let your passion and dedication fuel your artistic evolution.
